After five years without regular operations, weekly flights promise to raise up to 80% the visit of brazilian tourists
Trip Linhas Aéreas, which has been working all over the country for 11 years, is the airline company responsible for the flights.
A Belgian couple which is visiting Brazil for the second time approves the idea “I prefer to get here by plane, it’s more practical” says Roland Platteau. His wife, Martine Guillaume says the bus trip is very pleasant but the flights make it easier to visit Chapada in less time .It takes 8 hours by bus.
According to the Convection Bureaux, there are no flights to Lençóis Airport since 2004 due to the airline crises, what decreased the number of tourists from São Paulo, the biggest visitors. “The flights Salvador/ Lençóis are crucial to have these visitors back to Chapada Diamantina,” explains Michelle.
The flight schedules also help with the connection to other destinies, what it didn’t happened before, says the operator Rogério Camara.
Setur assures that’s an old request from the local trade and it’s a deal between the Government of Bahia and the Airline Company.
The re-start of these operations, added to the personnel qualification courses we did in Chapada, is an action that helps the local economical development.
The flights start on April together with a series of holidays this first semester, which makes businessmen and government authority connected to the local tourism expect a great number of visitors in Chapada.
Weekly flights
Flights are available every Saturday at 2 pm, a 45-minute flight with a capacity of 68 passengers. Each flight will cost around R$ 199,00. Tickets can be bought at travel agencies, by the site www.voetrip.com.br, at Lençóis and Salvador airports or by the phone numbers 4004-1464, 0300-789 8747 and 0800-722 8747.
Reservations can be done from March 16 on and you can pay cash or credit card at the airline company ticket counters or by the site or phone.
